Here is Ms. Tugie. I took her picture a few days ago as she peered out of the covers to start her day. Today went by pretty fast and I got a lot done at work. Hubby and I rode in together so TheTeen could have the car today. She had cheer leading practice at 4:30 so we just let her have the car. She ran a few errands anyway as she needed things for her trip tomorrow. She is headed to Cheer leading camp in the morning. We have to have her there at 6:45. ::sigh:: So please pray for their safety. They will be on the road about 2.5 to 3 hours.
The cheer camp week is very stressful for the girls. They have fun too. But it is very stressful as they will be competing. They won't have cell phones until late at night. She will be coming back home on Friday.
Hubby G and I went to Publix tonight. We had gone and bought some things at Sams yesterday but still needed Tugie's food and I needed to order a cake for Hubby G's little birthday dinner party with our friends Saturday.
We had leftover steak and squash and tomatoes and cucumbers for dinner. I bought an apple pie which was only $3 at Publix b/c the cake guy talked me into it. He gave me a bite of one and it was sooo good. He was so helpful too about the cake. I love Publix' customer service. I think we are getting to know them all now. lol. There is one lady that is always doing the food samples. She cooks all the time and hands out recipes. Her job is to give people recipes that take 20 minutes to cook. She always has some good ideas. So I've talked with her like 4 times in the past 2 weeks (seems we can't stay away from the grocer - lol- as much as we cook). I've got to ask her name, now b/c we have talked so much! Tonight the sampling was a little plate of kielbasa with fruit salsa. Sound weird? Yep. It was heavenly. The fruit was papaya and kiwi topped on top of the kielbasa which was on top of couscous with walnuts. Yep we grabbed the recipe.
Shouldn't I just name this blog "My Southern Food?" ....Yep that is what I thought. Such foodies here. On a quest for the best tastes in the world. Still haven't forgotten that I promised to post that coffee marinade for steaks...lol. It's "on my list!"
Well, Hubby gave me $5 for making good grades. lol lol lol My "report card" came in. Really it was my transcript.
TheTeen went to Salsaritas after cheer practice b/c she was "craving a quesadea". I asked her if Noa was the quessadea - spelling? (lol). Noa works there now. Anyway she came home with chips and that queso sauce. She left them on the counter. She has often brought home her chips from there and left it on the counter for us to have as an appetizer. So Hubby brought the chips to the coffee table and we munched on them while dinner was cooking. Well....TheTeen comes in and huffs, "why are you eating my dinner"????????? Well, of course, I am the one sitting there with the chips and Hubby is off in the kitchen somewhere. lol I felt so bad. I told her "Dad brought them to me"....lol. She says we always eat her food. I don't but her Daddy sometimes will reach in the leftover boxes and get him a midnight snack. lol So I offered to get her some more chips and dip. She stormed around and I used my "de-esculating" skills on her and it worked. "I notice you are storming around as if you are mad. Are you mad?" She says, "no I'm just stressed....eat the chips!" (I had stopped eating the chips when I found out it was the rest of her dinner). "Who or what has you stressed, I ask?" "I'm stressed b/c of trying to pack and get ready and that always makes me stressed". "What can we do to help you to make you less stressed?" "Nothing - eat the chips". She quit stomping around so it looked like it worked. And I left the room - with a chip!
Well, I better go. Have a few things to do and I really need to be in bed right now. See some days are just pretty boring.
Nite Nite

I'll be saying a prayer for the Teens safe travels. Teens do often have a lot of stress and often take it out on those at home too. They know mom and dad will always be there for them anyway. Hopefully the camp will be more fun than anything else for her.
'On Ya'-ma
Cute picture of Tugie! Praying for the teen's safety. LOL about eating her dinner.
WE HAD CLUB SANDWICHES TO USE UP THE LEFTOVER BEAR BUTT CHICKEN WE COOKED 4TH JULY..WE HAD 3 CHICKENS GOING ON THE GRILL..ONE TERRIYAKI...ONE LEMON PEPPER AND ONE WINE HERB GARLIC...
I LOVE THE CHEESE DIP YOU GET AT MEXICAN RESTAURANTS..HOW THEY GET IT SO THIN...I JUST DON'T KNOW....
I'm envious, we did not have any left overs! Could be a possible name change in the works, 'Southern cooking'.

I love when I settle an "arguement" with good old kid psychology! Poor girl, it is tough being a teen. I'm enjoying mine while they are still fun!
LOL I am laughing so hard about teen's stress story and the chips... that was so cute! Thanks for sharing... I can just see her stomping around and you talking her back to calm again and all the while the chips in the middle of it. LOL. Tugie is so darn cute!! I sometimes miss the Publix from Florida but we have Krogers here... the one I really miss is Giant Eagle in Ohio where we are from. Hugs,
Lisa
